SCC Culture Club for Kids: Easter Week 2

Two days of investigation, imagination and discovery for children aged 6 to 12yrs who love being creative and learning through fun activities. Led by the experienced cultural services learning team, at Kids’ Club children will explore the past, experience the museum and gallery and make really cool things!

Tuesday 11th April- Titanic Day- Step back in time to 1912 and discover loads of interesting things about the world’s most famous ship. Create an arty Titanic, explore the museum and take part in lots of other exciting activities.

Wednesday 12th April – Southampton Time Travellers. How did Roman’s decorate their houses? What did Saxon fashion look like? And what’s special about how Tudors liked to keep hydrated? Explore all this and more in a day full of fun crafts and activities.

These workshops will run from 9am through to 4.30pm and are based at SeaCity and the City Art Gallery. We will move between venues. Please drop off from 8.45am and pick up from the SeaCity main entrance and provide snacks, lunch and a drink. A registration form must be completed prior to arrival.

£35 per child, per day or £60 if both days of Culture Club are booked. We highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Soaring Spitfires Family Workshop (6yrs+)

Take to the skies! Join us for this fun-filled session exploring the story of the most famous WW2 fighter plane of them all- the Supermarine Spitfire! You’ll be creating your very own pump rocket plane using our junk modelling kit. Please bring a 1.5 or 2 litre drinks bottle and we’ll provide the rest! Be warned, you may get wet!

This activity will last 90 minutes and will be run twice on the same day at the following times:
10:30am – 12noon
1pm – 2:30pm

Tickets are £8 each and we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Tuesday 4th April: Eggcellent Easter – A fun sculpture day learning techniques and creating Easter inspired animals.

Jellyfish Sculptures (5yrs+)

Super fun and imaginative sculpture workshop creating stunning jellyfish sculptures from recycled materials.

These workshops will last 90 minutes and all materials will be provided. Please note that tickets must be booked for all adults and children who will be attending. Accompanying adults are free and children’s tickets are £8 each.

Tuesday 14th: Let’s Potter! – A magical day of making. Wands, spells, creatures, you name it, we’ll be conjuring it up.

These workshops will run from 9am through to 4.30pm and are based at SeaCity and the City Art Gallery. We will move between venues. Please drop off from 8.45am and pick up from the SeaCity main entrance and provide snacks, lunch and a drink. A registration form must be completed prior to arrival.

MINI MONETS: ART CLUB FOR UNDER 7YRS

Join artist Debra Marsh at our monthly art club to experiment with different art styles, techniques and materials in a fun and accessible way; a great way to encourage your child’s creativity without making a mess at home!

This session is designed for parents to do with their children. While the activities are aimed at 4 – 6 year olds, siblings of other ages may also enjoy it and you are welcome to book a place for them.

The session will finish at 11:30am. Children need to be accompanied by an adult.

THE YOUNG ONES: ART CLUB FOR 7 – 13 YEAR OLDS

New Dates for 2023 available to book! Join artist Harriet Bilton at our monthly art club to experiment with different art materials, processes and ideas; inspired by the Gallery’s collection and the exhibitions on show.

You are welcome to drop your child off for this session, or to stay and enjoy it with them.

DUE TO THE POPULARITY OF THESE SESSIONS WE HAVE ADDED AN ADDITIONAL AFTERNOON SESSION ON DATES WHERE THIS IS POSSIBLE.

On these dates, please do not book for the morning and afternoon as the activities will be the same at both sessions.

Morning sessions are 10,30am – 12:30pm
Afternoon sessions are 1.30pm – 3.30pm
