We’ve created a range of free downloadable activities for students learning English, all based around the history of Southampton. These work brilliantly when combined with a guided tour of the Old Town. Click on the links below to download the relevant activity packs. These packs have been designed for absolute beginners (pre-entry) through to intermediate level English (entry level 3).
These resources have been made as part of the Mayflower 400 programme in Southampton with funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund. Southampton approached the anniversary through the lens of migration. The Mayflower is one of many thousands of migrant, transmigrant and refuge ships that have left from, or arrived in Southampton during the past seven centuries. As a result, 148 languages are currently spoken in the city. The anniversary was an opportunity to reveal this rich and diverse history, and to encourage communities to tell their stories, many of which will have previously been hidden. Find out more.
