Looking to book onto your next Kids Club? You can browse all of our upcoming events here.
We are looking forward to welcoming them to us. They will be joining us for days of investigation and discovery for children who love learning through fun activities and being creative. Led by our experienced team of educators, children will explore the past, experience the museum and gallery and make really cool things!
Below you’ll find lots of useful information about your child’s day with us.
Before your first day with us of a holiday please complete a Registration Form by clicking on this link.
Please complete this at least five days before your first session. If it is completed after this time you will need to complete a paper copy on the day.
This will provide us with your emergency contact details and allow us to support your young person on their day with us. Please include any medical conditions. Please note that we our team are unable to administer medications.
We ask that a new Registration Form is completed for every holiday.
Please note that Kids Club is for children aged 6.5 (Year 2) and 12 years old (Year 8). If your child’s falls outside of that range please contact us to discuss whether Kids Club is suitable for them.
If your child may need extra support, please get in contact with us at museums.education@southampton.gov.uk or on 023 8083 2810. We want to make sure we can provide a safe and enjoyable experience for your child and everyone taking part.
Our Kids Club session times are from 9am to 4pm.
Our main base is at SeaCity Museum, SO14 7FY, but we do also often head round to Southampton City Art Gallery and usually spend some outside time in the surrounding park areas.
Drop-off is between 8.45am and 9am and is at the SeaCity Museum café entrance. Look out for a member of our team. If arriving late, look out for the contact number poster on the main entrance.
If you would like to drop-off or pick-up your child out of those times please let us know.
Our activities take place in the Learning Decks at SeaCity Museum, the museum’s designated teaching spaces.
Collection will be from the SeaCity Museum Learning Decks. To find these, please ask at reception and one of our team will be pleased to show you up.
Please be aware that your children will have pieces of artwork to take home with them and we suggest bringing a cardboard box or similar to help carry them home. If you have any worries about transporting these please let the team know at the beginning of the day.
Every day is different, but you can expect lots of fun, games, craft, history and visits around SeaCity Museum and the Art Gallery.
Each week has a theme for which all the activities are linked. For example, in the past themes have included ‘All Aboard’, ‘Spooky Autumn’ and ‘Myths & Legends’.
Our day includes snack breaks, rest time and art and history activities. All participants are asked to take part in the activities on offer.

Please arrange a packed lunch for your young person. During the day there will be a snack break in the morning (10.30am) and afternoon (3pm) and a lunch break (12.30pm).
During the summer, Christmas and Easter holidays we are currently offering healthy snacks. This is supported by the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, but in half-term holidays please provide extra snacks for the morning and afternoon break because snacks are not included then.
If you would like, we can also arrange lunch for you. This costs £5.75 and is payable in cash on the day. The lunch offer includes a half-round of sandwiches, a drink and two snacks. Snacks may include Pom-Bears, raisins, chocolate biscuits, yoghurts and jelly pots.
All art materials and resources for the session will be provided, but we ask that each young person has with them:
We want to make sure that all of our participants and staff have a great time at Kids Club. At the beginning of every day we set aside time to create a charter for the day, discussing the positive behaviours we’ll be looking out for and also the negative things we’ll be trying to avoid.
In addition, we also follow a behaviour agreement, which by sending your young person to Kids Club, you will be agreeing to. This sets out the way that our team will manage behaviour issues, should they arise. You can download a copy of this below.
Throughout the day there will be a trained first aider in the team. If your young person requires treatment we will provide an accident slip at the end of the day informing you what happened and any treatment that that was administered.
Our team are not trained to administer medicines (including paracetamol and ibuprofen) and will only do so in an emergency on advice from a qualified medical professional.
We are able to store medication and remind children to take it themselves.
If your young person has a medical condition or allergy that requires medication please alert us to this when completing your Registration Form.
Please do not send your young person to Kids Club if they are unwell, or have been unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea in the 48 hours beforehand.
The safety and wellbeing of children is our utmost priority. All of our staff and volunteers undergo a rigorous recruitment process and will have an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate and relevant safeguarding training.
Our staffing ratios are a minimum of 1 adult: 8 children. The team leading Kids Club will be a mixture of Southampton Museums & Art Gallery learning team, freelance artist practitioners and volunteers. Sometimes we invite other organisations to lead activities too, who will be present in addition to our regular team.
Should you have any concern whatsoever about the safety and wellbeing of young people at Kids Club, it is important that you report them.
