Our supporters

SeaCity Museum receives funding from a variety of sources, including our major funding partners Southampton City Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The museum is also very grateful for the generous support that it has received from:
  • The Department of Culture Media and Sport
  • Wolfson Foundation
  • Garfield Weston Foundation
  • Ordnance Survey
Following an application by Southampton Cultural Development Trust, the Garfield Weston Foundation announced a grant of £200,000 in support of SeaCity Museum.  Stephen Boyce, Chairman of the Trust said:  “We are delighted, and very grateful, to have received this generous award from the Foundation towards the Museum, which is in recognition of the importance of regional museums to local communities and to the stature of Southampton as an international maritime centre.  It is extremely encouraging, and gives invaluable momentum to the Trust’s work in raising funds for the next stages of the development of the Cultural Quarter.” Councillor Warwick Payne, cabinet member for Leisure Services said:   “This generous contribution to SeaCity Museum is most welcome and will help ensure the museum builds on its successful launch to become a real focus for the emerging cultural quarter in Southampton’s city centre.”

Southampton Cultural Development Trust is an independent, registered charity, which aims to help bring about completion of the Cultural Quarter with its new museum, galleries, performance and film spaces, through advocacy and fundraising.   The Trust is governed by a board of volunteer trustees drawn from the business and arts communities who are advocates for the arts and culture in the city.
